The project is to segregate arriving passengers from departing passengers which is the current arrangement within Terminal 1. This will involve construction of a raised walkway above the current terminal at approximately 10mtrs to allow access through to the arrivals immigration area as well as to the transfer screening area for passengers needing to reach connection flights.
The project involves demolition of certain sections of the existing terminal to allow vertical cores to be constructed for lifts and escalators and further bus gates for arriving passengers from remote stands.
